Partner Nicholas V. Chen was appointed to the Panel of Arbitrators for China’s leading national arbitration tribunal along with nine other global appointees. The appointment notice stated:
“Through careful examination by CIETAC Arbitrator’s Credentials Committee and under the review of the 2nd Chairmen Plenary Session of the 17th Commission of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) we are pleased to inform you that we have decided to appoint you on our Panel of Arbitrators.”
Mr. Chen was honored with this appointment as a result of his nomination by two special recommenders: CIETAC’s founder Mr. TANG Hou Zhi and Mr. WANG Zhong Fang, the China Law Society’s President Emeritus. These prominent elders have been instrumental in establishing an internationally recognized system to implement rule of law in China.
Mr. Chen is a prominent Chinese-American lawyer based in Taiwan and Shanghai who has been working and traveling to China since 1973. He has extensive knowledge of business and legal best practices in China and has successfully represented international clients in over USD 5 Billion of investment deals in coastal and interior China. He has also represented many Chinese state-owned and private enterprises in their overseas investments as well as domestic dealings with international parties. He is a graduate of Yale University and New York University School of Law.
